Why 和 KIDS?
和 (wa) represents harmony, respect, and balance—values at the heart of Japanese culture.
They also guide how we choose every experience we offer.
We believe a child’s time in Japan should be meaningful.
Not filled with endless options—but shaped by a small number of carefully chosen moments.
We Choose People, Not Activities
We don’t start with experiences.
We start with people.
Every program on 和 KIDS is built around a teacher who has dedicated years—often decades—to their craft.
When your child joins an experience, they are not just participating in an activity.
They are learning directly from someone who truly lives what they teach.
Our Standards
Every teacher we work with must meet three essential standards:
Deep Experience
They have spent years developing their craft, often through formal training or long-standing tradition.
Ability to Teach Children
They can guide children with patience, clarity, and care—adapting to different personalities and experience levels.
Respect for Meaning
They teach not only how, but why—helping children understand the cultural values behind each practice.
Why We Say No to Most Applications
We review every teacher carefully—and we turn most of them down.
We do this when:
- The experience feels like entertainment rather than meaningful learning
- Group sizes are too large for individual attention
- The focus is on speed or volume instead of care
- The experience cannot be delivered consistently for children
Saying no allows us to protect what matters most: the quality of each child’s experience.
A Small Number, Chosen With Care
We intentionally keep our selection limited.
This allows us to:
- Maintain small group sizes
- Work closely with each teacher
- Ensure every experience meets the same high standard
- Create a calm, focused environment where children can fully engage
We believe a few meaningful experiences leave a deeper impression than many rushed ones.
What This Means for Your Child
When you choose 和 KIDS, you’re not choosing from a long list.
You’re choosing from experiences we would confidently recommend to our own families.
Moments where your child can:
- Learn directly from skilled teachers
- Experience Japanese culture in a thoughtful, hands-on way
- Build confidence through something real
