What Your Child Will Do (Step-by-Step)

Your child will meet their instructor and be introduced to the spirit of kendo—respect, focus, and discipline. They’ll learn basic etiquette, including how to bow and enter the dojo properly.
2. Dress & Preparation (15 min)
With guidance, they will put on traditional kendo attire and be introduced to the equipment, including the bamboo sword (shinai). Safety and proper handling are explained carefully.
3. Basic Movements & Stance (20 min)
The instructor will teach fundamental posture, footwork, and how to hold the shinai. Your child will practice simple movements step by step.
4. First Strikes & Practice Drills (30 min)
Children will learn how to perform basic strikes while calling out loudly—an essential part of kendo that builds confidence and energy.
5. Guided Practice Match (15–20 min)
In a safe and controlled setting, your child will try a light practice match with the instructor or another participant, applying what they’ve learned.

The session ends with a traditional closing bow and a short reflection, helping children understand the values behind the practice.
